The First Time Buyer Journey - Step by Step

We know the process can feel overwhelming so here’s exactly what to expect from start to finish:

1. Work Out Your Budget Before you start viewing properties, get a clear picture of what you can afford. Speak to a mortgage broker to get an Agreement in Principle – this shows sellers you’re a serious buyer and confirms your maximum budget.

2. Register With Us Tell us what you’re looking for – location, size, budget and must haves. We’ll match you with suitable properties and alert you as soon as anything relevant becomes available.

3. Start Viewing We’ll arrange viewings at times that suit you, including evenings and weekends. Take your time and ask as many questions as you like – we’re here to help.

4. Make an Offer Found the one? We’ll guide you on making a competitive offer and negotiate on your behalf to get the best possible price.

5. Instruct a Solicitor Once your offer is accepted you’ll need a conveyancing solicitor to handle the legal side. We can recommend trusted local solicitors who offer competitive rates.

6. Survey and Mortgage Your mortgage lender will carry out a valuation and you may wish to commission a full survey. We’ll keep you updated throughout this stage.

7. Exchange and Completion Once all checks are complete contracts are exchanged – at this point the sale is legally binding. Completion follows shortly after and you’ll get the keys to your new home!
